QUALITY ACCOMPLISHMENTS So with this quality policy, this continual improvement process, all this quality education, all these tools and techniques, and Contech's years of participation, what can we say we have actually accomplished so far? Well, let's look at a few examples: 1. A Contech Corrective Action Team (or C.A.T. Team, as we call them) developed computer software standards used throughout the company since 1990. 2. A Contech Corrective Action Team developed Contech's Project Quality Manual that outlines our methods, systems, and requirements for completing specialized plant modernization projects. The manual was adopted May 11, 1992. 3. A Contech Corrective Action Team developed Contech's Administrative Quality Manual that outlines our non-project administrative methods and requirements. The manual was adopted September 1, 1993. 4. A Contech Corrective Action Team developed the plan and layout for Contech's new shop facility that was built in 1992. 5. A Contech Corrective Action Team developed and implemented Contech's eNet engineering and CAD network which first went into service in February 1991. 6. A Contech Corrective Action Team developed and implemented Contech's computer-based voice mail system that went into service in January 1991. 7. A Contech Corrective Action Team developed Contech's 1995-97 strategic business plan. 8. A Contech Corrective Action Team developed and produced Contech's Safety Manual that was adopted in September 1994. 9. A Contech Corrective Action Team developed and implemented Contech's automated long distance telephone call logging and reporting system that went into service in 1993. 10. A Contech Corrective Action Team developed and implemented Contech's outside security lighting system. 11. A Contech Corrective Action Team developed and implemented Contech's financial accounting network that went into service in 1992. 12. A Contech Corrective Action Team developed Contech's current organization and management structure that was implemented early in 1995. 13. A Contech Corrective Action Team developed and implemented Contech's Email and Task Management System in 1994. This system, which is incorporated into Contech's eNET system, interconnects all Contech home office employees (from senior management to the shop floor workers) via networked PC's. The system has revolutionized our ability to communicate with each other quickly, easily, and effectively. 14. A Contech Corrective Action Team developed and implemented a plan to double Contech's engineering and design office space in La Porte. This facility was constructed and occupied in October 1993. 15. Contech Corrective Action Teams have continually improved Contech's shared eNET printing and plotting facilities for drawings and other documents. Innovative laser plotting approaches have dramatically reduced drawing and document print time, cost, and hassle. Internal check prints, for example, are routinely laser printed in 8.5" x 11" and 11" x 17" sizes, virtually eliminating the need for slower mechanical plotting for all check prints and drawings for internal use. 16. Contech Corrective Action Teams have over the years continually improved our high security, centralized electronic drawing and document file storage facilities and procedures as computer hardware and software have evolved. 17. In 2000, a Contech Corrective Action Team replaced Contech eNet with ContechNet 2000, a state-of-the-art, high security LAN utilizing Dell work stations and servers, Windows 2000 Professional network technology, Microsoft Windows Office Professional 2000 software (Word, Excel, Access, FrontPage, PowerPoint, MS Project, MS Outlook, Microsoft Internet Explorer, Microsoft Publisher), AutoCAD, Intergraph Micro station, Intergraph Intools, Timberline accounting and project cost control software, Bid Master estimating software, Purchase Pro internet enabled purchasing software, and Canon high capacity, networked, digital printer/copies.
